Umbria Jazz Festival

The Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy attracts over 200,000 people each year for 10 days of live jazz music performed by critically acclaimed artists from around the world. This coming 2014 festival is rumoured to be the ‘best yet’ and whilst the lineup has not been official announced you can be sure that Italy’s most famous of all jazz festivals will not disappoint.

Now in it’s 41st year, the Umbria Jazz Festival takes place in the streets of the Renaissance hill city of Perugia. Whilst still predominantly a jazz fest, fans will be sure to see a wide plethora of different music genres including artists from rock and roll, world music, Cuban salsa and African tribal music backgrounds.

Many performances take place outdoors (most of which are free to attend) whilst some paid concerts are hosted inside numerous venues (including the main venue, the 4,500-seat Giardini del Frontone) all of which are spotted around the city. Read More at www.umbriajazz.com

B.B. King

Riley B. King known by the stage name B.B. King, is an American blues musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at No. 6 on its 2011 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time , and he was ranked No. 17 in Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time".According to Edward M. Komara, King "introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that would influence virtually every electric blues guitarist that followed.

Burt Bacharach

Burt Freeman Bacharach is an American singer–songwriter, composer, record producer and pianist. A six-time Grammy Award winner and three-time Academy Award winner, he is known for his popular hit songs and compositions from the late 1950s through the 1980s, many with lyrics written by Hal David as part of the duo Bacharach and David. Most of their hits were written specifically for and performed by Dionne Warwick, but early on they worked with Gene Pitney and Gene McDaniels.
